Literacy Week

Super excited about "Literacy Week" which kicks off on Monday 15th May.
To begin the week we welcome the Scholastic Book Fair which will be set up in the KIWI Centre. As well as being open at morning tea and lunchtime we will also be open 8.30 pm before School and after School until 3.30 pm.

On Wednesday we have one of my favourite New Zealand authors Kyle Mewburn visiting. As well as enjoying his books I had the pleasure of meeting him in Dunedin a couple of years ago. I know there are lots of his fans within Barton and you will really enjoy hearing him talk and meeting him. We will have some of his books available to purchase at the book fair and if you already have some bring them in on Wednesday for Kyle to sign. To learn more about Kyle Mewburn click here to visit his website.

During the week the School Council have created literacy based quizzes for each group of classes. There will be 3 days of questions. The council will gather answers and mark with prizes for winners.

Last but not least the week will finish with "Fictional Friday". Come dressed as your favourite book character, author or even a book. We will have a parade and there will be prizes to be won. Check here for some inspiration. Look forward to celebrating "Literacy Week" with all our Barton Bookworms.
