Dr. Simon Pollard visit

Today we were privileged to have Dr. Simon Pollard visit for the day. The visit was arranged through the New Zealand Book Councils 'Writers in Schools' programme. Dr Pollard is an award winning natural history photographer and writer, a spider biologist and currently working at the University of Canterbury as a professor. During today's talks Dr Pollard shared his current project which is working with Weta Workshop and Te papa on a new Bug exhibition.
As well as three talks to the Junior, middle and senior classes, Dr Pollard also held a writers workshop for twelve students. Thank you Dr Pollard and New Zealand Book Council for providing this unique, insightful visit to Barton. I know myself and many others have a new respect and interest towards creepy crawlies.
